I am researching my family tree and have reached back to the early 1800's, to my great, great, great grandfather, William Bufton Plummer. His cousin John Plummer was a well known author & poet around the time of the French Revolution.

If any one can link in these names, I would be interested to hear from you

Hi. I might be able to help, though the name is somewhat different...yet Belfield was hardly a large town. My grandfather was Hugh Milan Gilmore, married to Loye. Might this help?

Thank you for answering. Yes, any info about Mabel Mae would help so much. Hugh Milan would be my grand uncle. I have been searching for Mabel Mae Plummer (Gilmore) for years but have hit a brick wall. I have a family tree on Ancestry, where you can get lots of pictures and info. It is Larson/Gilmore family tree. Mabel Mae's youngest daughter, Hazel Jane Gilmore (Schwulst)is the last of the Gilmores and has provided me with lots of pictures and stories. I would be happy to share all I have. You can contact me on my email: gwildebaur200266@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon. Looks like we are cousins!!! Gerri

Samuel Plummer and wife Margaret Clancy - Anyone? Brooklyn, NY USA 19C

I have had a mystery child living with my Tammany family in Brooklyn, NY in 1892 and also in 1900.
In the 1900 Census she was evidently living in the St. Joseph Female Orphan asylum with her sisters Ella and Annie.

St. Joseph Female Orphan Asylum, 735 Willoughby Ave, Brooklyn, NY
PLUMMER, Emma, inmate, white, female, born Sept 1888, age 11, single, bn NY,
PLUMMER, Ellen, inmate, white, female, born Oct 1885, age 14, single, bn NY
PLUMMER, Annie, inmate, white, female, born Dec 1886, age 13, single, bn NY,

I just found a marriage record for Emma!
On 20 Jan 1915 she married James Joseph Marron in Brooklyn
Her father is listed as Samuel Plummer and her mother was Margaret Clancy.
Mary Jane Clancy was the wife of James Tammany (the family she lived with) and one of the witnesses to the marriage was Jennie Tammany (child of James and Mary J (Clancy) Tammany.
The problem now is that no matter where I look, I cannot find any trace of Samuel Plummer and Margaret Clancy.
Does anyone recognize them?

Looking for more information particularly childrens' names of Meshech (any spelling) and Abednego Plummer. They are brothers from Frederick Maryland who moved to Rowan County North Carolina in late 1700's early 1800's.

Usual first names but spelling may be variants.

Trying to establish who Matthew W. Plummer father is. Matthew born abt. 1805 in NC. May not even be one of these brothers.

Any help

There is a Meshack (sp?) Plummer mentioned as having a "desperate debt due the estate of James Hilton" of Rowan and Davidson counties, NC.. The estate being probated or settled in 1824. Meshack or Meshech is also listed in the 1830 census for Rowan County, NC. James Hilton's daughter, Nancy Ann, had married a George Plummer around 1810-12.

I have wondered if Meshack was related to George. Do you have any further information on Meshack and Abednego?

Here is all I have. Working with an Plummer descendant who is trying to establish the parents. Meshech and Abednego are brothers, both born in Frederick County, Maryland and married there.

Meshac (their spelling) Plummer married Anna Elliott on January 13, 1795. This implies he was born around 1775 or earlier and would jive with the date his father was born.

Abednego married Ann Redman October 11, 1796. This implies he also was born around 1777 or earlier and would jive with the date his father was born.

Both are from the records of the First German Evangelical Reformed Church located in the city of Frederick. Records were copied in 1903 and are now in the Maryland Historical Society located in Baltimore. The original record may contain more information about the marriage or about the family. And these records may also have baptisms and other events listed. I have not seen these myself.

Other researcher indicate their parents' names are Thomas and Rachel Nichols Plummer. They have Thomas b 1748 and d 1826 (although one research say he died in 1792). They have Rachel b 1750.
These are the children that are listed
Hezekiah Plummer 1775 – 1837
Meshech Plummer 1775 –
Abednego Plummer 1777 – 1819
Thomas Plummer 1778 – 1851
Jeremiah Plummer 1779 –
Comfort Plummer 1780 –
Eleanor Nelly 1781-

Some researchers list that Thomas' father was also a Thomas b 1726 d 1774. One lists his mother's name as Eleanor Walker b 1730 d 1774. One researcher has the parents' names as Samuel and Sarah Plummer.

Searching for any information that may help in my quest to find my Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandfather John Plummer's Parents. I believe John was born in 1811 in Ashe county, NC. He could of possibly been born in a neighboring county, but he married Hannah Powers who was born in Ashe County in 1811. By 1834/36 they lived in Neosho, Newton, MO. where they raised eight children. Any information would be treasured.

Edward, my great grandfather did those things you say. However his wife was Susan Rissan at Langham prior to deportation, two children George Plummer and Elizabeth Bell Plummer who in 1841 census were with Edwards parents (Edward and Elizabeth (Sparke)at Langham. I would love to be able to trace Susan Rissan after Edward was transported "Stakesby" to Tasmania. We have his full story and Australian Story.
