I will assume that you have his marriage certificate to Rose...
From this you should have his father's name (though not necessarily) and be able to spot him on a census with his family.
You should therefore know where he said he was born.
If you go to the FReeBMD site freebmd.rootsweb.com you can search for a possible birth and using the reference you find there order a birth certificate for him from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ costing 9.25bp. You can also specify that you only want the certificate if the father's name is xyz.
If you are not sure which registration district might cover where he was born see: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/.
Apart from finding a baptism for him (if the minister has noted his birthdate) then the birth certificate is the only place you will find his birthdate. Unless he died late in the 20th century it may be on his death certificate (but may be a shot in the dark as to year by a family member!)
